A 28-member delegation, led by Senior Superintendent of Traffic Kowloon West Chan Kwok-kee, attended a Mainland Study Programme at the Shanghai Police College from March 7 to 18.
During the 12-day programme, the delegation not only learned the structure, training activities and equipment of the Ministry of Public Security, but also enhanced their knowledge of the history and culture of the Mainland. In addition, the delegates were attached to local police stations to work with frontline staff and visited their home to enrich their understanding of the work and life of a Mainland public security official.
In view of the opening of a theme park in Shanghai in mid-June, the delegates were invited by Pudong Police Station to share their experience in crowd management, traffic control, daily policing as well as formulating contingency plans in connection with the theme park in Hong Kong.
Apart from enhancing the knowledge of policing work on the Mainland, the programme had also enabled the delegates to foster closer ties with their Shanghai counterparts.
