The Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit (FCSV) and Wong Tai Sin District jointly arranged 30 members from the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association (HKDSA) to visit Wong Tai Sin Police Station on April 16 with an aim to enhancing communication between police officers and mentally incapacitated persons (MIPs).

Officers explained to the visitors about their daily work and police procedures, such as stop, question and search. A demonstration of the stop, question and search was staged to help them understand frontline work. The visitors then toured the facilities of the station, including an interview room set up specifically for MIPs and victims of sexual violence.

Officers of both units took the opportunity to interact with HKDSA's visitors and their parents to learn more about MIPs' needs, their behavioural patterns, and ways to communicate. The activity enabled the visitors to get to know about and build up trust with the Force.

At the end of the visit, a representative from HKDSA presented a souvenir to the officers and expressed gratitude for their hospitality.
