Kwun Tong District Councillor Ms So Lai-chun and resident representatives from Hiu Lai Court presented tapestry banners to Sau Mau Ping District (SMPDIST) Chief Inspector Yin Hiu-yu and officers of District Investigation Team 3 (DIT 3) on April 19 in appreciation of their professionalism in investigating a case of impersonating a public officer.


The case involved an informant who was dubious about a message received through an instant messaging software from a suspect claiming to be a senior government official. Thus, the informant made a report to the Police. Officers of SMPDIST DIT 3 immediately launched investigation and eventually apprehended the suspect, who was convicted of impersonating a public officer.


In a separate occasion, Kowloon East (KE) Regional Commander Duncan McCosh presented letters of compliment to SMPDIST Commander Yuen Yuk-kin, Deputy Commander Steven Tait and SMPDIST officers on April 14 in recognition of their efforts in making arrests in a number of serious cases, one of which was about a case concerning a suspected mentally-disordered man armed with a knife. Upon receiving the case report, uniformed officers, the Emergency Unit of KE and police negotiators took swift actions and successfully subdued the man. The team was commended for showing good teamwork and displaying a high level of professionalism in handling the case.
