To promote racial harmony and strengthen liaison with community stakeholders, Yuen Long District (YLDIST) hosted a basketball knockout competition in conjunction with the Yuen Long District Council, the Social Welfare Department and the Yuen Long School Head Association on April 16. Also taking part in the shooter games were the Yuen Long NEC Association – HKG Youth Betterment Association, Yuen Long Junior Police Call (YL JPC) and Project Himalaya.

Yuen Long District Officer, Mr Mak Chun-yu, presided at the opening ceremony of the matches. YLDIST basketball team won the champion by a narrow edge to the team of the Yuen Long School Head Association by 32 to 31. Then the four hosts formed a united team to conduct a friendly match with the HKG Youth Betterment Association. A free throw shooting contest was also held among the united team, HKG Youth Betterment Association, YL JPC team and Project Himalaya team, with YLDIST basketball team winning the game.

New Territories North Regional Commander Kwok Ho-fai concluded the event by presenting prizes and an appreciation flag to the participants and the HKG Youth Betterment Association respectively.
