In a bid to combat illegal soccer gambling, Mr Chris Lo from the Hong Kong Jockey Club was invited to brief about 50 members of the Force's Gambling Expert Cadre on May 11 about the intricacies of legal soccer betting in Hong Kong and various forms of illegal soccer gambling.
Superintendent of the Criminal Intelligence Bureau (CIB) Chan Wui-nang said the briefing was practical and had better equipped the Gambling Expert Cadre with the requisite knowledge. A souvenir was presented to Mr Lo as a token of appreciation.
Administered by CIB, the Gambling Expert Cadre performs a voluntary secondary duty, providing expert evidence in court as well as advice regarding illegal gambling activities to officers. Recruitment will be planned on a need basis and will be announced through the Force's Noticeboard.
