The Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) for 2016/17 has been kicked off with a sharing session by experienced officers to strengthen junior mentors' coaching skills at the Police headquarters on May 31.
Over 60 mentors attended the sharing session held by the Recruitment Division. PMP Head Mentor, Director of Police College Lau Chi-wai, expressed the hope that the event would help all mentors learn the skills to be a role model to facilitate the mentees' social and personal development.
After the sharing of coaching experience by five veteran mentors, namely Senior Superintendent (SSP) Chiu Wai-po, SSP Ho Yun-sing, Superintendent (SP) Yip Kai-hung, SP Tse Tsui-yan and SP Chan Wing-mee, the junior mentors are now ready to apply the skills in a bid to establish a cordial relationship with their mentees.
A series of PMP activities will be held to enhance mentees' knowledge on and interest in police work. Following the commencement of the PMP Job Attachment Programme in early June, the mentees will give a presentation about their work attachment at different formations in September.
