The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) joined hands with the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Co-ordination Centre to launch an annual campaign on "Build a Secure Cyberspace" to increase public awareness of cyber security and technology crime.

The campaign for this year, building on the theme of "Protect Data, Secure Transaction", will feature a series of public engagement activities. One of which was a cyber security seminar about "Protecting Data from Ransomware Attacks", which took place on May 31.

Acting Chief Inspector Hong Yiu-wai from CSTCB spoke on the prevalent malware as well as the latest trends of technology crime and cyber threat, and gave crime prevention advice. Other representatives from the Government and the information technology industry presented information on web security solutions, ransomware prevention and data protection.

On the other hand, a Mascot Design Contest with the theme of "Protect Data, Secure Transaction" is now open. The contest is divided into open group, secondary school group and primary school group, and the deadline for submission is July 15.
