Superintendent Ho Chun-tung of Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) was invited by the Competition Commission to attend a large-scale publicity campaign on "Fighting Bid-rigging Cartels" on May 26 to raise community awareness of bid-rigging and give tips on how to detect and prevent collusion.

To fight against bid-rigging by crime syndicates in renovation works of ageing buildings, OCTB has formed an inter-departmental working group with government departments and public bodies concerned, and the "RenoSafe Scheme" has been launched accordingly. The scheme aims to prevent consultant firms, building contractors, or any person to employ unlawful means to affect the tendering and the process of works in building renovation projects. It provides a consultation platform for residents who are or will be participating in the Mandatory Building and Window Inspection Schemes to report crime to the Force.

As bid-rigging is a subject of our concern, OCTB keeps on co-ordinating all Regions to participate in crime prevention seminars and follow up promptly bid-rigging allegations in relation to building maintenance.
