A Community Day at Kwun Tong Police Station was well received on June 18, with the support of Kwun Tong Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary President Council, Kwun Tong District Council, Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee and principals of local secondary schools and primary schools. More than 600 community leaders, teachers, students, parents, elders and members of the public took part in the function.

Declaring the event open, Commander of Kwun Tong Division (KTDIV) Gareth Jones said that the Community Day marked the start of a series of community engagement activities initiated by Kowloon East (KE) Region to let young people know more about police work and strengthen mutual understanding between the Force and the youth.

Meanwhile, KE Regional Commander Duncan McCosh took the opportunity to appoint 35 secondary school students and JPC members from Kwun Tong District, Sau Mau Ping District and Wong Tai Sin District to be "RAILWATCHers". This was one of the initiatives introduced by Railway District for Project RAILWATCH to enhance crime knowledge of students and JPC members.

The activities of the Community Day covered a briefing on police patrol duties; booths on a display of equipment, motorcycles, police vehicles and old fashion police uniform; demonstrations of Force Rope Access Cadre and Police Dog Unit as well as performance by the Police Band.
