Under the arrangements of the Police College, Chief Inspector Cheung Chi-wai led a study delegation to visit the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) in Kuala Lumpur from June 6 to 10 to explore issues of mutual interest. Other members on the delegation were two Senior Inspectors, three Sergeants and six Police Constables.
The delegates visited several departments at the RMP Headquarters, at which discussion was made on crime prevention and community policing, counter-terrorism, narcotics investigation and other policing matters. The RMP officers shared their strategies and achievements in the promotion of community policing, such as the active use of social media to enhance communication with the public and the forging of stronger partnership with specific groups in fighting crime.
Afterwards the delegates had a guided tour to the RMP College, Police Museum and Penang Police District. Frontline officers of the Batu Feringghi Police Station at Penang Northeast District briefed the delegation on the characteristics of the local community, organisational structure of the police district, crime trends and the relevant combating strategies.
The delegates found the study visit very meaningful as it enabled the Force and the RMP to increase mutual understanding and enhance co-operation.
