Project Shek O was launched by Eastern District (EDIST) at Shek O Village on July 12 to engage the community and raise crime prevention awareness of local residents. Officiating at the ceremony included EDIST Commander Graham Mitchelmore, Chai Wan Divisional Commander Fan Chor-fun, some community leaders and representatives of residents' groups.

Under the project, officers will give crime preventive advice to local residents on a regular basis, and a dedicated 24-hour police hotline will be set up for the residents to report criminal intelligence. A strong police presence will be maintained to combat burglary, while enhanced traffic enforcement action will be taken during the swimming season.
