A Summer Day Camp of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP), which was held at the Police College on August 13, attracted the participation of 148 mentees and 70 mentors. Amongst the participants were Head Mentor cum Director of the Police College Lau Chi-wai and Deputy Head Mentor cum Chief Superintendent of the Human Resources Branch Siu Chak-yee.
With a theme of "To be P.O.L.I.C.E.", the Day Camp was aimed to enhancing the mentees' leadership ability, communication skills, team spirit and resilience to changes. The mentees not only competed in physical challenge, but also participated in role-play and leadership exercises. These activities helped to increase their understanding of the pressure and challenges that officers are facing.
Ms Lau hoped that the Day Camp could foster ties between the mentors and mentees and enable them to develop a mutually respectful relationship. The mentees were invited to express their views, which would be conducive for the planning of tailor-made activities for them.
As the PMP Job Attachment Programme will soon come to a close, the mentees will submit a report about their internship experience and the top three mentees will present their report at a ceremony in September.
