Head of the School of Specialised Learning of the Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) Dr Chiu Sau-mee, together with Superintendent of HKPC Leung Ka-mei, gave a presentation of the Force's research study on and application of its Emotional Fitness Training Programme to over 150 overseas participants at the 20th INTERPOL Police Training Symposium in Singapore earlier.
With the theme of "Innovation in training: the way forward", the symposium offers a biennial forum for high-level law enforcement officials to share their knowledge on training. This year, the officials discussed a number of topics in the three-day event, which covered new methodologies for adopting innovative technology in police training, the impact of research findings on law enforcement training, ways to conduct training quality assurance at the national and international levels as well as global good practices to optimise resources.
Dr Chiu and Ms Leung told the participants in their presentation that the Force attached great importance to training officers' psychological quality and emotional management. They also shared the Force's strategies on emotional fitness training as well as the encouraging research results of the training programme. Apart from the presentation, Dr Chiu had the honour of being invited as one of the four moderators to facilitate the presentations and sharing of the participants.
During their stay in Singapore, Dr Chiu also presented a letter from the Director of HKPC to Superintendent Kung Hing-fun, who has been seconded to work in the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore, for appointment as a Knowledge Management Ambassador.
