The Management Committee of Card Authorisation System in PRC and representatives of 28 local card-issuing banks presented commemorative plaques to the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) in mid-August in appreciation of their professionalism, dedication and high efficiency in foiling four major fraud cases.
Receiving the commemorative plaques were CCB Chief Superintendent Wong Ying-wai and officers from the Intelligence Division, Counterfeit, Forgery & Support Division and Fraud Division. Over the past year, CCB conducted four intelligence-led operations with a total of 27 persons arrested and these cases involved an amount of more than $10 million. The cases covered applications for credit cards/loans with false proof of employment, cash withdrawals from ATMs with forged cards, and a manufacturing centre of counterfeit credit cards.
