A total of six Force members took on the challenge of a 90-kilometre marathon in Tenggeli Desert, Inner Mongolia, from August 26 to 28. They were Inspector Tai Yuk-lun and Sergeant Fung Hon-wing from Tai Po District, Police Constable (PC) Man Yu-leuk from New Territories North Region, PC Yiu Chi-kwong from Cheung Sha Wan Division, PC Lo So-fan from the Basic Competencies Training Division and Traffic Warden Ho Lai-ching.

The Force runners, carrying their own food and equipment, had to overcome undulating sand dunes of two to three metres in height and 70 to 80 degrees in gradient. They faced the biggest challenge of the race on the second day as it was windy and they had to climb a sand dune of about three storeys high and thousands of sand dunes measuring three to four metres in height. This really tested the endurance and determination of the runners.

Eventually, all six Force runners completed the race. In addition, Mr Tai and Mr Fung won the second runner-up medal of Man's Open Category while Mr Yiu captured the second runner-up medal of Man's Master Category.
