Deputy Inspector-General of the Criminal Investigation Department under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Mr Zhang Guiyong, led a 31-member delegation to visit the Force from September 19 to 23.
The delegation, comprising officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of MPS as well as forensic experts from various provinces and municipalities, visited the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau, Identification Bureau, Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau, Liaison Bureau and Crime Kowloon West Headquarters in a bid to enhance their understanding of the Force's procedures in criminal investigation and evidence gathering.
Mr Zhang paid a courtesy call on Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Wong Chi-hung, and exchanged views with him on fighting various crimes. Mr Wong welcomed MPS to continue arranging delegations to Hong Kong to enhance collaboration on criminal investigation and forensic technology. Mr Zhang also looked forward to regular exchanges on forensic technology with the Force to nurture more professionals.
Since the enactment of the revised Criminal Procedure Law of the Mainland in 2013, the Criminal Investigation Department of MPS had led 11 delegations to Hong Kong to strengthen co-operation in criminal investigation technology.
