The Road Safety Council (RSC) held its 43rd Anniversary Ceremony cum Student Pedestrian Safety Kick-off Ceremony on September 24. Deputy Commissioner (Operations) cum RSC Chairman Wong Chi-hung said at the ceremony that the Council had formulated initiatives and launched publicity and education campaigns with a view to enhancing public awareness of road safety.
Mr Wong pointed out that the RSC had set the safety of student pedestrians as one of the five main themes of road safety publicity. This year, the RSC had mounted a number of publicity campaigns to promote the safety of student pedestrians and elderly pedestrians as well as cycling safety, anti-drink and anti-drug driving, and driving attentively.
Mr Wong expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the RSC members and the working partners for their contribution and support respectively. He appealed to the public to make joint efforts to realise the vision of "Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal". Also officiating at the ceremony included the Chairman of the Road Safety Research Committee cum Deputy Commissioner (Planning and Technical Services) of the Transport Department, Mr To Kam-biu, the Chairman of the Road Safety Campaign Committee, Dr Eric Cheng, and the Head of Radio 2 of Radio Television Hong Kong, Mr David Ho.
