The Force endeavours to provide suitable uniform and accoutrement to officers to meet the operational needs with due regard to safety protection and comfort. The Uniform and Accoutrement Committee (UAC) is responsible for reviewing the existing uniform items and accoutrements of the Force as well as considering all suggestions to introduce new uniforms, uniform items and accoutrements. Recently, the UAC has improved a number of uniform items, including modifying the design of the waistband of marine uniform trousers with Velcro in August, and introducing a new uniform with flame retardancy for the Small Boat Division in March and traffic winter protective gloves with a higher level of water resistance last October.

The UAC provides an effective platform for the Force management and staff to review uniform and accoutrement items. It facilitates the management to identify officers' needs and collect views of officers and staff associations. All officers can make suggestions to the UAC for consideration.

To cater for the recruits' need for internal security training and their need to turn out for Tier III duty after passing out, the UAC has issued Gallet MSA helmets and IS boots to recruits since May. In August, the UAC has issued an additional set of liner of helmet to each traffic officer to address hygiene concern.

Furthermore, the Force has taken in the suggestion of frontline officers and staff associations in considering new items, such as windbreaker pouches and jackets for criminal investigation officers, and the items are now put on trial.
