Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) joined hands with other police districts with an aim to engaging more Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) youths to participate in Project Gemstone or other similar projects to brush up their Chinese language proficiency and improve their competitiveness to join the civil service.

On September 7, three NEC members of Project Gemstone went to Yuen Long District to share their experience with members of Project Himalaya, and attended a Chinese language class. On September 15, with the assistance of the Police Community Relations Office (PCRO) of Shatin District, Police Constable (Auxiliary) Gimandeep Singh, an Indian member of Project Gemstone, went to St Margaret's Girls' College in Shatin to conduct a career sharing.

Meanwhile, YTDIST arranged NEC volunteers of Project Gemstone to assist in distributing anti-crime and road safety leaflets to the public at three locations in Tsim Sha Tsui during the National Day fireworks show. YTDIST Deputy Commander Kerry Carew visited the volunteers to show support for them.

For more information about the project, please call PCRO YTDIST at 3661-9234 or email to sslo-1-ytdist@police.gov.hk.
