The 16th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Police and Security Forces Sports Exchange took place in Macao between October 31 and November 3 with an aim to enhancing friendship and working relations among the three jurisdictions. A team of 58 Force athletes, led by Acting Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chiu Wai-yin, took part in the event.
Ms Chiu was one of the guests who kicked off the opening ceremony while Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing attended the welcoming dinner. Officiating at the closing ceremony was Commissioner Lo Wai-chung. The Chairman of the Police Sports Council, New Territories South Regional Commander Lui Hon-kwok, and the Vice-chairman, Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Cheuk Hau-yip presented prizes together with senior officers of Guangdong and Macao.
Nail-biting contests were seen in distance run, swimming as well as football, table tennis and shooting games. The Hong Kong athletes not only took the champion in the football match, but also clinched the title of the overall second runner-up of the Tripartite Sports Exchange.
In senior officials' friendly matches, Ms Chiu and Superintendent Ma Wai-hing secured the champion of badminton mixed doubles, and led the Hong Kong senior officials' team in winning the overall champion of the badmintion contest. In table tennis men's doubles, Mr Lui and Chief Inspector Wong Wan-chi won the first runner-up. Furthermore, two Hong Kong tennis teams captured the champion and first runner-up in men's doubles matches, while the Hong Kong swimming team clinched the champion of the swimming contest.
