Thirty mentees and mentors of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) 2016/17 learned about the responsibilities, objectives and daily work of the Marine Police at a briefing by Superintendent of the Small Boat Division (SBDIV) Lau King-lun at the Marine Regional Headquarters (HQ) on November 23. The visit was organised by mentors from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Open University of Hong Kong.

The participants went to the Marine Regional Command and Control Centre and also took a look at the advanced equipment on a police launch. Then SBDIV officers demonstrated a forced boarding and the skills to subdue a suspicious person.

The mentees were grateful for the arrangements made by the mentors as the visit enabled them to get a better understanding of the dynamic work environment of and the challenges faced by the Force.
