Eight new records were set at the annual Force Swimming Gala held at Kwun Tong Swimming Pool on November 12. Over 400 swimmers competed in 45 events, with old records smashed in Men's Backstroke 50m, Men's Backstroke 100m, Men's Breaststroke 100m, Men's Individual Medley 200m, Women's Backstroke 50m, Women's Butterfly 50m, Women's Freestyle 100m and Women's Freestyle 50m (Grand Master A).
Following hotly contested events, the Police College was the grand slam winner of the day by bagging the Men's and Women's Overall Formation Champion Trophies, the Best Supported Formation Trophy and the Best Cheerleader Formation title.
Police Constable (Auxiliary) (PC(A)) Lau Ka-chun captured the Men's Overall Individual Champion for the second consecutive year while PC(A) Lam Suet emerged as the Women's Overall Individual Champion. Both of them are undergraduates and are prepared to join the Force after graduation to contribute to society.
PC Chan Ming-hin, the son of Station Sergeant (SSGT) Chan Tin-hung, broke the long-standing record of Men's Breaststroke 100m. Both SSGT Chan and PC Chan of are core members of the Police Swimming Club (PSC) and had clinched a number of awards for the Club over the years.
Meanwhile, the PSC continued to run Men's and Women's Grand Master B for retired officers as well as Two Generations Relay in a bid to promote a healthy lifestyle among Force members of different generations.
The Chairman of the PSC, Superintendent Ho Ka-fei, thanked all the participants for supporting the gala, and hoped that they would continue to excel themselves in swimming events next year.
