As part of the Police College's overseas training for officers, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Kwok Yam-shu and Superintendent Lau King-lun attended the Graduate Diploma in Executive Leadership Programme at the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) in Manly from October 9 to 21 as a Visiting Fellow and a participant respectively.

Forty-three officers from the police forces, fire and emergency services in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong shared their leadership practices in the programme. Mr Kwok and five other ACs from the two countries acted as Syndicate Directors in facilitating discussions amongst the participants and assessing their performance in classroom and written assignments. The core programme covered a wide range of topics, such as executive leadership, public policy formulation, strategic policy review, leadership in the private sector and communication skills.

Upon completion of the AIPM programme, Mr Lau spent a week on attachment at the Australian Border Force (ABF) Headquarters in Canberra and the Marine Area Command of the New South Wales Police Force in Sydney. There he visited the Sydney Water Police, the ABF National Operational Training Centre, the Maritime Border Command as well as the Joint Agency Task Force, which oversees the implementation of Australia's anti-illegal immigration strategy.
