Kowloon East (KE) Region rolled out a series of activities in 2016 to strengthen its partnership with various sectors of the community and to enhance public understanding about the professional service of the Force.
The KE Regional Headquarters took the lead in organising an open day at KE Operational Base on March 19. It was followed by the open days at Kwun Tong, Sau Mau Ping, Wong Tai Sin and Tseung Kwan O police stations. The open days not only disseminated anti-crime messages to over 2 000 participants, but also increased their knowledge of the Force.
The Region also conducted two sharing sessions for stakeholders in November and December about the crime trend and future development of the Force so as to foster communication with community groups.
For sports activities, the Region held a "3-on-3 Community Basketball Match" in its Regional Sports Day in November. Secondary students were invited to compete and communicate with officers in a bid to promote youth engagement.
In the coming year, KE Region will continue to maintain close rapport with the community. In this regard, a sub-working group, led by a superintendent, has been formed in December to formulate strategies and plans for the Region's community engagement work in 2017.
