The second phase of Project Guarding Eyes in Sham Shui Po District (SSPODIST) has been completed on January 16, with a total of 82 low-security buildings installed with subsidised closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to enhance building security and residents' awareness of crime prevention.

Earlier on December 6, Acting SSPODIST Commander Mak Lau Wai-mun hosted the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the project. She expressed gratitude to the committee members, including Chairman of Sham Shui Po District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) Mr Li Hon-hung and the patrons, for their contribution. The Steering Committee will conduct a review to pave the way for the third phase of the project.

On the other hand, Kowloon City District (KCDIST) Commander Lee Nga-lai, Chairman of Kowloon City DFCC Mr Siu Chor-kee, Chairman of Kowloon City District Council Mr Pun Kwok-wah and some other District Councillors visited the buildings which were installed with the community-sponsored CCTV systems in Hung Hom and To Kwa Wan on January 5, and met with the residents to gauge their feedback.

With financial support from the local community, the CCTV systems were installed at nine old residential buildings in Hung Hom Division to improve building security under Project Safeguard, which was launched in August last year. The residents reacted positively about the project.
