With the Lunar New Year around the corner, winter precaution measures are in full swing in various districts, reminding the public to pay more attention to the safety of their property, homes and shops, and keep a vigilant eye on crime and deception.


YLDIST


The Rural Patrol Unit of Pat Heung Division, the Police Community Relations Office of Yuen Long District (PCRO YLDIST) and YLDIST Senior Police Call (SPC) members partnered with the Community Youth Club of Tung Tak Primary School to hold the "Education Workshop of Winter Precaution" on December 19 in an attempt to raise the primary students' awareness of the recent crime trend and crime prevention measures. The students also assisted local officers and SPC members to distribute leaflets to villagers to disseminate anti-crime message.


On December 23, officers from Tin Shui Wai Division, PCRO YLDIST and the Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories North gave out anti-burglary fliers to the residents and shopkeepers in Hang Tau Village, Hang Mei Village, Tong Fong Village, Ping Shan Village and Shang Cheung Wai, in conjunction with District Councillor Tang Hing-ip, representatives of indigenous inhabitants and SPC members.


MWDIV


Officers of Marine West Division (MWDIV) distributed leaflets on crime prevention, anti-telephone deception as well as sea safety to villagers in Tai O on January 4 to remind them to take precautionary measures ahead of the Spring Festival.


KCDIST


Kowloon City District (KCDIST) staged the KCDIST Winter Precaution Fight Crime cum Road Safety Publicity Event in partnership with KCDIST Road Safety Campaign Committee on January 5. KCDIST Commander Lee Nga-lai, together with Chairman of Kowloon City District Fight Crime Committee Mr Siu Chor-kee, Chairman of Kowloon City District Council Mr Pun Kwok-wah, Chairman of KCDIST Road Safety Campaign Committee Mr Ho Chi-kai, Chairman of KCDIST Senior Police Call (SPC) Honorary Presidents Council Mr Lee Kam-hung, other community leaders and SPC members, distributed fight crime and road safety leaflets and souvenirs to the shops and tenants in Hung Hom and Kowloon City to remind them to stay alert of burglary and telephone deception.


WTSDIST & KTDIST


In a bid to appeal to local residents to pay extra attention to home security and telephone deception, Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST), Kwun Tong District (KTDIST), the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East and Marine East Division launched a Fight Crime Publicity Roadshow in collaboration with Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committees (DFCCs) on January 7 and 8 in Wong Tai Sin, Sai Kung town centre and Tseung Kwan O. Led by WTSDIST Commander James Betts and KTDIST Commander Barry Smith, Chairman of Wong Tai Sin DFCC Mr Wong Kit-lung, Chairman of Sai Kung DFCC Mr Chan Kuen-kwan and Chairman of Sai Kung District Council Dr Ng Sze-fuk took part in a bus parade and gave out leaflets at some stops to passers-by.


YTDIST


Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) Commander Kwok Pak-chung, together with Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee Ms Chan Heung-lin, local District Councillors and YTDIST Senior Police Call members, took part in the Winter Precaution and Fight Crime Publicity Campaign on January 11 at Yau Ma Tei Jade Hawker Bazaar, Jade Street and the hawker stalls on Bowring Street. They distributed anti-crime fliers and red couplets to shop operators and hawkers to alert them to step up security of their goods, and customers to keep an eye on their personal belongings.
