To provide a platform for Force members to express their condolences on the first Chinese Commissioner Li Kwan-ha's passing, the Hong Kong Police Force set up memorial corners at the third floor lobby of the Police Headquarters (PHQ) from February 6 to 10 and on the ground floor of the Police Sports and Recreation Club from February 11 to 15.
Mr Li's younger daughter, Miss Grace Li, came to the PHQ to sign the condolence book. She expressed gratitude to the Force for the memorial arrangements.
She wrote the following in memory of her beloved father.
"I have been proud of my father since I was young. To me, my father was a humorous, knowledgeable and scholarly gentleman with Confucian style. He demonstrated his strong leadership with dazzling strategies and tactical genius outside. But at home, he was the best husband and father in the world who deeply loved his family.
"When I was young, no matter what difficulties my father had encountered, or how busy or tired he was outside, my father would suddenly become a big child when he returned home. He loved telling jokes with my mother and playing human seesaw with me. My family was always so sweet. My father and I used to study cars and cameras together. A few years ago, I also studied jade under my father's influence. I hope that one day I could become his successor.
"When my lovely father saw that I was wearing a particular brand or style of clothes, he would always ask me to buy one more piece for him so that we could dress like twins. On several occasions, we wore exactly the same clothes while walking around Central. All these are still alive in my memory. Dad, as your daughter, I'm truly proud of you. I will retain all the 'little toys' you gave me forever."
