The Hong Kong Police Force joined hands with the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department and the Unitary Police Service of Macao to launch a tripartite operation, codenamed Operation THUNDERBOLT, from March to September to combat cross-boundary organised crimes and triad activities.
This year's Operation THUNDERBOLT, to be conducted in two phases, was co-ordinated by the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) of the Force. Chief Superintendent of OCTB Man Tat-shing presided at two preparatory meetings with the tripartite representatives in February, during which they set objectives of the operation, deliberated the operational details and enhanced the co-operation mechanism.
The tripartite law enforcement authorities are determined to sustain their stringent enforcement actions against cross-boundary criminal activities such as trafficking of firearms and dangerous goods and drugs, money laundering, prostitution and other serious organised crimes.
