New Territories South (NTS) Region hosted a cocktail reception for over 60 members of District Fight Crime Committees, District Councillors, principals, Honorary Presidents of Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call as well as representatives of Rural Committees and the aviation, transportation and security sectors in the region on February 27.

NTS Regional Commander Lui Hon-kwok thanked the community partners for their continuous support, which led to a significant drop of local crime figures. A video featuring how different formations and districts combatted and prevented crimes, and engaged the community in the region was shown. The Emergency Unit and Traffic Formation of NTS also demonstrated their equipment to the participants. A highlight of the event was a sharing by three frontline Police Constables about their memorable work experience of handling an unco-operative person, rescuing an attempted suicide person and locating a missing hiker with dementia respectively. This illustrated how officers embraced challenges with professionalism, courage and tenacity.

The gathering not only let the community leaders get a better understanding of the work of frontline officers, but also enhanced co-operation between the community and the Force.
