In a bid to strengthen intelligence exchange to combat cross-boundary telephone deception, Superintendent (Operations) of Crime Kowloon East Regional Headquarters Chim Tak-ming headed a delegation of six officers to visit their counterparts in Foshan and Shenzhen on March 2 and 3.

They attended a liaison conference with officers of the Crime Investigation Departments (CIDs) of Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department (GD PSD), and Foshan and Shenzhen Public Security Bureaux to exchange views on the latest trend and modus operandi of telephone deception, explore solutions for stemming cross-boundary phone scam and pave the way for the development of the Proceeds Termination System.

Deputy Director of the CID of GD PSD Mr Ruan Fucheng welcomed the delegates and reiterated the importance of cross-jurisdictional collaboration in combatting telephone deception. Both sides discussed ways to step up co-operation in law enforcement and intelligence exchange to tackle cross-boundary phone scam as well as the development of Mainland social media for disseminating anti-deception messages. Mr Chim thanked the three CIDs for their support, particularly in two joint operations – Operations SILKMETRO and MEGAZEST. The delegation also paid a visit to Foshan Anti Telecommunications Network Fraud Centre.
