Both Central District (CDIST) and Kwun Tong District (KTDIST) arranged some mentally incapacitated persons (MIPs) to visit their respective police station to raise these MIPs' self-protection awareness so as to prevent them from falling prey to crime.
CDIST joined hands with the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit (FCSV) of Crime Wing and several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to arrange over 80 MIPs and their parents as well as NGO staff to visit the Central Police Station on March 9. CDIST officers gave a presentation on the Force's new measures for handling MIPs whilst officers of FCSV cited real-life examples to advise the care-takers on how to prevent MIPs from becoming victims of crimes. The event concluded with a sharing session by CDIST Commander Chan Joon-sun, other officers and CDIST Junior Police Call (JPC) members.
On the other hand, KTDIST invited MIPs from the Christian Family Service Centre as well as their family members to visit Kwun Tong Police Station on February 18, during which officers explained to the 40-plus visitors about the Force's new measures for handling MIPs. Besides briefing them about the Care Card Scheme and the roles and responsibilities of Appropriate Adults, KTDIST officers also delivered anti-deception messages. All the visitors responded proactively in the activity.
