Officers from the Licensing Office, District Anti-Triad Squad and Police Community Relations Office of Central District (CDIST), and representatives from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) and the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) conducted meetings with two Central and Western District Council members on April 1 about law enforcement at local liquor-licensed premises to reduce nuisances to the neighbourhood and possible crimes.
Later the day, CDIST officers conducted joint inspections with FEHD and EPD in the district under the observation of the District Council members. The Force and the two departments took enforcement actions with regard to liquor licence, restaurant licence, shop front extension, environmental hygiene and noise pollution. Furthermore, CDIST officers reminded the operators of their responsibilities in properly managing their premises, and distributed crime prevention leaflets to customers to alert them to pay attention to their personal belongings as well as to reduce noise and other nuisances.
On April 11, CDIST, FEHD and EPD collaborated with the Lan Kwai Fong Association to co-organise a seminar for the licensees and operators of some 30 liquor-licensed premises in Central. Officers briefed the attendees on the crime trend involving liquor-licensed premises and gave crime prevention advice while FEHD and EPD staff talked about matters of their respective jurisdictions.
