A delegation of eight officers from the Commercial Crime Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), headed by their Senior Assistant Commissioner Mr Roslan Bin Abd Wahid, visited the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) from April 20 to 22 to sustain their efforts to combat cross-boundary romance scam.
Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Chung Siu-yeung welcomed the delegates and thanked the RMP for their ongoing support. The visit was aimed to bolster cross-jurisdictional partnership in deterring transnational romance scams.
Senior Superintendent Tsang Ching-fo of CSTCB chaired an operational meeting with the delegates at which both sides discussed how to consolidate bilateral ties and enhance the mechanism of information exchange with a view to curbing transnational organised cyber crimes.
During Operation QUIVERLINE last December, CSTCB collaborated with RMP as well as the Nigerian law enforcement authorities to neutralise a romance scam syndicate consisting of Malaysians and Nigerians.
