Central District (CDIST) stepped up publicity and education to enhance the awareness of residents as well as building management and security personnel against burglary in the light of the public holidays in these two months.
As many people travelled abroad during the long holidays and some of them might leave their home unattended, officers from the Police Community Relations Office and Peak Sub-Division of CDIST mounted a crime prevention campaign on April 6 on the Peak together with a Central and Western District Councillor. They distributed anti-crime leaflets and gave crime prevention advice to residents, property management and security staff on how to step up security measures in the holidays.
Meanwhile, CDIST collaborated with the Regional Crime Prevention Office and a District Councillor in organising a crime prevention seminar on April 12 for building management and security personnel from the Peak. They briefed the attendees of the latest trend of burglary, modus operandi of burglars and offered crime prevention advice. The attendees supported the officers' proposal to establish a communication channel for the Force to spread crime alerts and security advice.
