The Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit of the Crime Wing hosted for the first time a Liaison Event on One-Stop Service for Sexual Violence Victims at the Police Headquarters on June 8 to strengthen collaboration between government departments and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The participants included frontline police officers as well as representatives of the Force's Psychological Services Group (PSG) and Forensic Pathology Services (FPS), the Social Welfare Department (SWD), the Hospital Authority (HA), the CEASE Crisis Centre and RainLily.
Speaking at the event, Acting Chief Superintendent (Crime Support) Lee Wai-man thanked the stakeholders for their efforts in strengthening the protection of sexual violence victims. He explained that the One-Stop Service model was initiated by the SWD in 2007 to enhance co-ordination of government departments and NGOs in the provision of services for sexual violence victims. Under the model, police officers, whenever practicable, would arrange these victims to receive medical treatment, forensic examination and take statement in the same hospital to minimise the need for them to repeat their unpleasant experience.
Then the participants of the event designed an ideal interview room for sexual violence victims and exchanged their experience in handling these victims. Afterwards, Senior Social Work Officer of SWD Ms Chan Pik-kum gave a presentation on the development of the One-Stop Service model, followed by a sharing by Force Clinical Psychologist from PSG Ms Ho Wing-sze about the skills in handling sexual violence victims.
In a sharing session chaired by Superintendent (Crime Support) Lincoln Leung, Inspector of Sham Shui Po District Crime Squad Lee Tak-ching, Acting Senior Forensic Pathologist of FPS Dr Foo Ka-chung, Departmental Operations Manager (Accident and Emergency) of Kwong Wah Hospital of HA Ms Leung Yuen-fan, Supervisor of CEASE Crisis Centre Ms Liu Pui-shan and Executive Director of RainLily Ms Wong Sau-yung outlined their work procedures and exchanged views about each other's role in handling sexual violence victims.
