The Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) organised a semi-annual Advanced Crime Prevention Training Day at the Police Headquarters on June 9 with an aim to brushing up the professional knowledge of officers who had completed the Standard Crime Prevention Course.

The Training Day covered online behaviour and cyber crime related to young people, the protection of smart home devices and the latest technological development. Apart from officers from the Regional Crime Prevention Offices (RCPOs) and the Juvenile Protection Sections, officers of the Critical Infrastructure Security Co-ordination Centre (CISCC) were also invited to attend talks relevant to their work units.

CPB invited Deputy Head of the Hong Kong Playground Association Mr Wan Lap-man to analyse the high-risk online behaviour of young people. He also shared his insights on cyber-bullying to enable the officers to better understand the internet-surfing practices of youngsters.

Moreover, Head of Consulting of a cyber security company Mr Lee Ho-yin explored the trends of online business behaviour, and explained how to utilise smart home devices to upgrade their security systems. Besides, Mr Ng Wai-kit from a computer hardware supplier exchanged views with the officers about the direction of technological development and explained the use of high-resolution monitoring systems for theft prevention. Officers from the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau also analysed the latest trends of cyber crimes through case studies. The attendees said that the training day helped to enhance their expertise in crime prevention.
