Senior Superintendent of the Traffic Management and Prosecutions Bureau of the Traffic Branch Yau Sin-man attended the 12th European Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Strasbourg, France from June 19 to 22. Over 3 000 delegates, including government officials, telecommunications service providers and automobile manufacturers from around the world, participated in the event to discuss the latest trends and policies of the ITS world.
With the theme of "ITS Beyond Borders", the delegates exchanged views on urbanisation, the role of ITS in city planning, traffic congestion solutions and infrastructure optimisation. They also conducted focus discussion on ITS solutions/projects, covering the application of technology, big data sharing, smart use of telecommunications equipment and automated traffic management. The congress also featured live demonstrations of the application of satellite technology on emergency services, automated vehicles and real-time traffic information transmission for logistics industry.
The ITS European Congress is part of the ITS World Congress which brings together global leaders to evaluate traffic management and public private partnership in global mobility. The ITS World Congress 2017 will be held in Canada to explore the application of smart technology under the theme of "New Generation Integrated Mobility".
