Chief Superintendent of the Commercial Crime Bureau Wong Ying-wai led Senior Superintendent (SSP) of the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau Tsang Ching-fo and SSP of Crime Kowloon East Cheng Chi-man to join the INTERPOL Conference on Countering Cyber and Financial Crime on July 12 and 13 at INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon, France.

The conference attracted a total of 185 guests, including heads of anti-cyber crime and anti-financial crime units from regional and local law enforcement agencies, as well as security managers of private enterprises such as the banking and telecommunications sectors.

The event marked the commencement of a long-term project, launched by INTERPOL President Mr Meng Hongwei, to develop an INTERPOL-led collaboration platform between law enforcement agencies and the private sector in fighting a surge in white-collar crime across the globe.

The head of the Hong Kong Police (HKP) delegation, Mr Wong, was invited as one of the speakers at the conference to talk about the Force's strategies in combating white-collar crime, based on the newly established public-private partnership intelligence exchange mechanism, namely the Fraud and Money Laundering Intelligence Taskforce. He said, "Whilst HKP has its own dedicated units and expertise in fighting against cyber and financial crime, it is also crucial that our Force works closely with other overseas law enforcement agencies and the private sector to meet the challenges of the uprising crime."

Meanwhile, Superintendent (SP) Lui Che-ho and Chief Inspector Kwok Ka-chun, who are currently attached to the INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon, assisted to organise the conference. On the other hand, SP Kung Hing-fun, who is seconded to the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore, also joined the conference to co-ordinate the attendance of participants from the Asia-Pacific Region.
