The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) hosted a Cyber Security Seminar on the theme of "Cyber Security Drill: Expect the Unexpected" at the Police Headquarters on July 25. CSTCB officers and a cyber security expert explained the importance of running cyber security drills to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure against cyber security incidents.
The seminar attracted the participation of over 200 information technology professionals from five critical infrastructure sectors, namely banking and financial services, transportation and shipping services, communications services, public services and government services.
Acting Senior Superintendent of the CSTCB Dr Law Yuet-wing stressed that the emerging cyber threats could endanger the safety of critical infrastructure and public safety as well. Critical infrastructure operators should conduct a comprehensive and effective cyber security drill to strengthen their resilience. Acting Chief Inspector Wong Ching-han introduced the CSTCB's cyber security drill, and shared with the stakeholders the experience of drill planning. Finally, the cyber security expert shared how organisations could incorporate cyber security drills into their business continuity plan to better prepare for cyber attacks.
