Under the Police College's initiative, Senior Superintendent Lau Kit-man attended an overseas training programme titled the Global Institute for Leadership Development (GILD) Asia in Singapore from July 17 to 21.

Run by an international training institute, the GILD is one of the foremost leadership development programmes designed to stretch the ambition, potential and capacity of senior leaders. The programme, which has been held in the United States for over 20 years, made its debut in Asia this year.

Mr Lau said, "The GILD Asia has attracted the participation of over 400 senior leaders from different sectors of the world. I am greatly privileged as one of the participants of this excellent learning journey from which I have exposed to a diversity of thoughts, experiences from veteran leaders in the political, business and public sectors and gained enormous insights and deep reflections on my leadership qualities and strengths."

The programme provided an effective platform for the participants to exchange leadership experiences and practices through focused study on well-grounded leadership research as well as interactive learning activities.

Through 15 keynote sessions and one-on-one professional coaching, the GILD Asia has given Mr Lau a good opportunity to undertake a deeper reflection of his strengths, personal aspirations and more importantly, ways to better perform as a leader and how to strive for a new height of excellence for the good of the Force.
