Marine Region hosted the Mid-year Reception for 2017 at the Marine Regional Headquarters on August 4, with over 110 community leaders and partners from District Councils, Rural Committees, District Fight Crime Committees and the Islands District Office attending the event.
Commander of Marine Region Lam Hiu-tong highlighted in her welcoming address the achievements of the Region in the first half of 2017, covering the improvement of the overall law and order situation; successful operations against illegal immigration, smuggling and burglary; the smooth security operations about the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as well as the visit of China's first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning. She thanked the attendees for their support and hoped that all members of the community would continue to work closely with the Force to fight crime at sea.
In a bid to facilitate interaction and dissemination of police information in the reception, booths were set up outlining the Region's crime prevention initiatives and achievements and displaying frontline officers' equipment. The attendees welcomed the informative sharing by Ms Lam and looked forward to forging liaison with the Force.
