Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Siu Chak-yee attended the Closing Ceremony of the Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Youth 2017 as one of the officiating guests on July 30. He was pleased to witness 500 teenage campers and 20 police voluntary facilitators completing a two-week basic military-related training from July 16 to 30 at San Wai Barrack of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison.

The annual Military Summer Camp, which was jointly organised by the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, the Education Bureau and the Concerted Efforts Resource Centre, endeavours to nurture students' self-discipline, perseverance and sense of national defense via an array of training related to military life.

As part of the Force's youth engagement initiatives, the Personnel Wing recruited police officers as mentors for the second consecutive year to give guidance to the student campers. Not only had the Force officers instilled a sense of responsibility and determination to the students, but also built a very close bond with them through the sharing of hardship and happiness in the camp.

Mr Siu showed appreciation to the 20 police facilitators who took part in this meaningful event in their spare time. He encouraged them to continue to engage the youth in their local policing Districts, thereby projecting a positive image of the Force to the community.
