Kowloon West (KW) Region invited three prosecutors from the Department of Justice (DoJ) to give a workshop on conducting prosecution and giving testimony at its Regional Headquarters on August 3. The event drew an overwhelming response from about 100 attendees from the Uniform Branch and crime units of KW Districts at the ranks from Non-commissioned Officer to Chief Inspector (CIP).
The three speakers were Senior Public Prosecutor (Training Manager) Ms Fu Yuet-yee, Senior Court Prosecutor I Ms Lui Oi-hing and Senior Court Prosecutor II of Kowloon City Magistracy Ms Tou Sut-mui. Apart from sharing points to note when conducting prosecution and giving testimony, the three prosecutors gave an in-depth analysis of four recent acquitted cases in KW and shared with the attendees the lessons learned. Afterwards, the attendees took part in group discussion under the guidance of CIPs having prosecution experience.
The workshop, which covered topics relating to frontline police work, had enhanced the ability of officers-in-charge in conducting prosecution of crime cases and the skills of frontline officers in giving testimony, and forged co-operation with DoJ prosecutors.
