Over 2 000 Senior Police Call (SPC) members took part in a series of free Chinese medical consultation sessions and anti-deception activities in all land Regions over the past few months. A ceremony was held at Leighton Hill Community Hall to mark the closing of the Anti-Deception and Healthy Campaign on August 13.


The campaign was rolled out by the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) in partnership with the Hong Kong Alumni Association of the Southern Medical University (SMUHKAA) in mid-January with an aim to arousing SPC members' anti-crime and health awareness.


The closing ceremony was officiated by Chairman of the SPC Central Advisory Board Mr Yu Tat-chung, together with Chairman of the SMUHKAA Dr Woo Wing-cheung, Chairman of the SPC Central Activity Committee Dr Cheng Kam-chung, Chairman of the SPC Central Finance Committee Mr Wu Chor-nam, Members of the SPC Central Finance Committee Mr Lui Kwan-yiu and Mr Chau Hau-lap, Commander of Central District Chan Joon-sun, Commander of Wanchai District Kan Kai-yan, Acting Commander of Eastern District Sit Ka-ho, Senior Superintendent of the PPRB Tse Chun-chung, Acting Deputy Commander of Western District Wong Kwok-kit and SPC Honorary Presidents of various Districts.


Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Yu expressed gratitude to Dr Woo for giving a health talk as well as gathering over 30 registered Chinese medical practitioners to offer free consultation services for the SPC members. The Birney's Corps Volunteers, comprising incumbent and retired police officers, also contributed to the campaign by making logistics arrangement.


Apart from a road safety session given by the Traffic Unit and a show by singer Mr Lee Lung-kei, SPC members performed dancing, Chinese opera and jazz music at the event. In addition, some SPC Anti-scam Ambassadors gave anti-fraud tips and called on the participants to help spread the message to their friends and relatives.


Moreover, artistes Ms Sit Ka-yin, Mr Woo Fung and Mr Au Sui-keung, who were appointed as SPC ambassadors this year, disseminated the messages of caring and crime prevention through publicity videos.
