The Recruitment Division arranged a series of summer activities for mentees of the Project Growth to enhance their understanding of frontline police duties. These activities included the Job Shadowing Programme, the first Project Growth Summer Day Camp and a visit to the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy.

Under the Job Shadowing Programme, several Police units, including Yau Tsim District, Kwai Tsing District, Kwun Tong District, Railway District, Sai Kung Division, the Police Dog Unit and the Recruitment Division, provided a one-day attachment to the mentees in early August to enable them to get a feel of frontline policing work and inspire them to join the Force upon their graduation.

Seventy mentors and mentees attended the Project Growth Summer Day Camp 2017/18 at the Junior Police Call centre at Pat Heung on August 16. They participated in a series of activities, such as physical fitness exercises, team building games, rope course challenge, role play activities and indoor laser gun shooting, to foster mutual understanding between the mentees and mentors, develop the mentees' communication skills, build up their team spirit, strengthen their physical fitness and enrich their understanding of the Force.

On July 20, some mentees visited the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy in Tseung Kwan O. After Senior Station Officer of the Fire Services Department (FSD) Mr Hui Kwong-ho briefed the mentees on the duties and training of the FSD, they took a look at their facilities and equipment as well as the Fire and Ambulance Services Education Center cum Museum. The visit not only broadened their career horizon, but also enhanced their understanding of the ties between the Force and the FSD.
