Deputy Counsel of the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) Mr Tang Sheng led a 33-member delegation to visit the Hong Kong Police Force from August 28 to September 1 for a sharing on investigation technology and evidence collection.
Comprising of CIB representatives and forensic experts from various cities and provinces, the Mainland delegates visited the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau, Identification Bureau, Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau, Liaison Bureau and Crime Kowloon West Regional Headquarters, and exchanged experience with local officers.
Meanwhile, Mr Tang paid a courtesy call on Acting Director of Crime and Security Chung Siu-yeung, and discussed ways to combat various types of crimes. Mr Chung welcomed the MPS to continue organising forensic expert delegations to visit Hong Kong so as to forge bilateral co-operation in criminal investigation and the forensic field. Mr Tang also expected both parties to hold regular exchanges in forensics with a view to cultivating more professionals.
During their stay in Hong Kong, the delegates also called on the Government Laboratory, Department of Justice and Forensic Pathology Service under the Department of Health to gain a better understanding of the local judicial processes in connection with criminal investigation and the testimony of expert witnesses.
