Commissioner Lo Wai-chung led a nine-member delegation to attend the 86th INTERPOL General Assembly in Beijing between September 26 and 29. Other delegates included Director of Operations Tang Ping-keung, Kowloon East Regional Commander Ho Yuen-ha, Chief Superintendent (CSP) of the Commercial Crime Bureau Wong Ying-wai, CSP of the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau Chan Wing-on, Deputy Director 1 of the Police College Chan Man-tak and Senior Superintendent of the Liaison Bureau Chan Tung.
With a theme of "Taking a Stance in Global Policing" for the plenary session of the General Assembly this year, the members endorsed a series of measures to strengthen the INTERPOL organisation, enhance their capabilities and reinforce partnerships, particularly in the global fight against terrorism, organised and emerging crimes as well as cyber crimes.
Meanwhile, Mr Lo held bilateral meetings with Secretary-General of INTERPOL Mr Jürgen Stock and the chief of police from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore about tackling cross-boundary crime. In particular, Mr Lo discussed with Inspector General of the Royal Malaysian Police on the signing of a memorandum of understanding with a view to enhancing police co-operation and training of the two places.
On the other hand, Mr Lo had short discussions with President of INTERPOL Mr Meng Hongwei and representatives of the French, German and Thai police authorities on combating transnational crime and terrorism as well as forging international collaboration.
