In a bid to enhance frontline supervisors' skills of supervisory accountability, New Territories South (NTS) Region has compiled an information package and ran two sharing sessions about the topic on September 12 and 22.
The package covered the definition of supervisory accountability, principles in executing supervisory duty, indicators of misconduct and reviews of discipline-related laws and guidelines for the supervisors' reference.
During the sharing sessions, NTS held role-play activities to provide opportunities for the participants to try to handle officers with signs of misconduct. Case studies were also conducted to point out potential temptations and traps in their workplace to help them prevent and manage similar situations.
The participants commented that the sharing sessions had bolstered their confidence in exercising supervisory responsibility. NTS Region had collected their views to consolidate the package. More sharing sessions on supervisory accountability will be rolled out for other supervisors of the Region.
