To attract high calibre Hong Kong (HK) students studying abroad to join the Force after graduation, the Recruitment Division (RECDIV) launched an Overseas Recruitment Seminar at the Police College on August 22 for students coming to HK for holiday as well as a recruitment drive in Toronto and Sydney in September for prospective applicants there.
Some 30 international students took part in the seminar, which covered police recruitment processes, an interview skills workshop, a campus tour and a physical fitness training exercise. It helped to raise the students' interest to join the Force.
With the support of HK Economic and Trade Offices in Toronto and Sydney, Superintendent (SP) Cheung Leung-yuk, Chief Inspector Lee Wai-see and Senior Inspector Leung Yuen-lung of RECDIV went to the two cities in September to hold career talks and job fairs for HK students in eight universities about police work and the Force's recruitment processes. SP Wong Chun-yue, who was attached to the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM), and SP Wong Wai-shun, who was attending a training course at the AIPM, also joined the activities to share with the students their insights about the police careers.
In addition, the Force will distribute publicity leaflets to HK students in seven cities, where the Common Recruitment Examination and Basic Law Test or the Joint Recruitment Examination will be held in December. Interested HK students, who meet the academic, language proficiency and physique requirements, are welcome to join the Force to serve the community. Details are available on the Overseas Corner of the Police Public Page (www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/15_recruit/oversea.html).
