An annual campaign known as "Build a Secure Cyberspace" was launched by the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB), Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre for heightening public awareness of cyber security. The campaign would feature a series of public engagement activities, including seminars and competitions.

With the rapid development of the Internet technology, the popularity of digital devices has grown. While the general public are enjoying the convenience brought by a smart living environment, new cyber threats have emerged. As such, a seminar of the cyberspace campaign took place on September 20, attracting a turnout of some 200 participants. With the theme of "Smart Home, Safe Living", Senior Inspector Wong Tik-ki of CSTCB and information security experts offered advice on tackling threats to internet-connected devices, tips on securing a smart home and security measures about using social media.

On the same day, an award presentation ceremony for the "Smart Home, Safe Living" One-Page Comic Drawing Contest was also held. A total of 1 200 entries were received from primary school, secondary school and open categories this year. Senior Superintendent of CSTCB Dr Law Yuet-wing was one of the guests who presented awards to the winners. For details of the events, please visit the following website: www.cybersecurity.hk.
